Study Abroad Advising

OSA is staffed with advisors who have experience working with undergraduates from all majors. Our advisors have studied, worked and lived abroad in their own lives, and have spent their careers helping students prepare for and adjust to host countries and academic cultures that are different from our own. Our advisors are available to assist you in clarifying your educational objectives for study abroad and matching them to an appropriate program.

Each OSA advisor has spent a significant amount of time studying, living and/or working in particular world regions. While you can make an appointment with either advisor, you may wish to make an appointment with one whose regional expertise matches your interests.

Before attending an advising appointment, we ask that you spend some time reading through our policies, procedures and program list on the OSA website and complete the on-line advising form available here.

Ms. Julie Gamze first lived abroad in Nicaragua, and then spent her junior year abroad on the CIEE program in São Paulo, Brazil. Ms. Gamze has also worked in various regions of Mexico. She is particularly well-versed in Latin America, but is eager to help students with a wide variety of academic and geographical interests.

Peer Advisors

OSA Peer Advisors are all returned study abroad students who have been trained to help prospective study abroad students in making informed decisions regarding study abroad. Peer Advisors hold office hours and are available to meet with prospective students as you inquire about study abroad opportunities, the application process, OSA policies and procedures, or are simply seeking a student perspective on international education. Meetings with Peer Advisors do not require an appointment. The walk-in schedule will be posted on this website during the first week of the fall semester. As with our staff advisors, you may want to meet with the peer advisor who has experience in your region of interest. However, all PA's are able to assist students who plan to study on any OSA program.
